In a fiery political exchange, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi launched a scary attack on former Vice President Rigathi Gachagua, in which he was called a "fool" and suggested that he was marrying President William Ruto as his second wife. This comment combines the increasing stress between the two leaders, which are engaged in a public fight over the political influence and the dynamics of the leadership within the government.
After the later impeachment in November 2024, the criticism of Sudi of Gachagua intensified, which Sudi blamed for Gachagua's divisive politics and perceived corruption. He accused Gachagua of hypocrisy, claiming that the former Vice President had taken action with the aim of tarnishing the reputation of former President Uhuru Kenyata and ex-Interior CS Fred Matiang'i. Sudi further alleged that Gachagua tried to blackmail President Ruto by demanding his support and KSH 10 billion in exchange for Mount Kenya voting block. He also linked Gachagua to scams associated with toxic Chinese and police remuneration issues, suggesting that Gachagua's work was harmful to the good of the country.
In response, Gachagau has criticized the leaders of Sudi and other cracks valley, accusing them of reducing their rights and engaging in what has been said in "political tourism". He warned that such leaders should avoid serving their constituencies and intervening in Mount Kenya's political matters. Gachagua's remarks have been found with backlash from leaders in Rift Valley, including Marakwet elders, who expressed surprise and rejection of Sudi's public criticisms. He saw the works of Gachagua for Marakwet.
